Fransk og spansk politi har tirsdag nat anholdt fire medlemmer af den baskiske undergrundsorganisation Euskadi Ta Askatasuna - ETA (Baskerland og Frihed). Anholdelsen fandt sted i den sydfranske by Bordeaux. Ifølge medierne påstår den spanske politipressetalsmand, at en af de anholdte, Francisco Javier López Peña, er selve chefen i ETA. Enhver med lidt kendskab til ETA véd, at organisationen er kollektivt ledet og slet ikke har en formand eller en leder.

Ifølge de franske presseagenturer har et hold, bestående af spansk og fransk antiterrorpoliti, i længere tid overvåget en advokat, som førte dem på sporet af ETA-folkene. Politiet gik i aktion, da de fire ETA`rister mødtes i en lejlighed i havnebyens centrum. Franske TV-medier viste billeder, da aktivisterne meget hårdhændet blev ført til de ventende politibiler.
