Till rebel clowns were entering. Around 20.15 clown business men arrived at the strip near the east entrance of the Jaarbeurs exhibition centre. There the clowns met the minister and also mayor Aleid Wolfsen and many more who were on their way to the train station. There the Copenhagen Express should bring them to Cop15, the Climate Change Conference in Denmark.
Jacqueline Cramer was really friendly: she received some money from the clowns and also a small plastic bag (with the text "Keep the Netherlands clean!!!") to put in her toxic waste and a form to send it to one of the countries in the south. For sure she could use the clown money to have good business deals with developing countries. We are talking about carbon offset. Emission trade is really great! - it's absolutely fantastic! With some money there is no problem: "Pollution is the Solution!".
We were lucky: after our nice talks with the minister, we could join her procession, entered the Central Station of Utrecht and walked together to the platform where the Copenhagen Express should leave. As special guests we walked the red, sorry - no, it was a green carpet (common people had to stay behind a fence). There we had great opportunities to have fun and have some trading with our big garbage bags (with texts on the bags like "From the West with Love"). But we were also very serious. Shouting: "Emission Trade - Great!", "Give poor nations just a little bit of money and go on with polluting!", Don't change the system!", "More Words, More Words, More Words!". Also some dancing on our favorite song: "Money, money, money - it's so funny in a polluting world!".
Off course after a while some undercover police started to push us. The distance between clowns and the minister should be a bit bigger. And that was really a pitty, because we feel the minister is also member of our extended clown family... You know: it asks at least a great sense of humour to go on with that funny system of emission trade!
Now we were pushed away (just a few mtrs) - we had more opportunities to talk and play with other very, very, very important people who were planning to bring moooore words to Copenhagen. Member of Parliament Diederik Samson (PvdA / socialdemocrats) had to laugh when he saw the clown business men. Alderman of Amsterdam Marijke Vos (Groenlinks / green party) also got some money for the negotiations. Other people also looked very important, but to be honoust: we didn't know who they are. For us no big deal!
The large 300 mtrs train loaded with politicians, journalists and representatives of companies and organisations should leave 21.00. It took some extra time - that's what you could expect if you don't take a car or a plane!
However; after a while we finally could wave them goodbye. Wishing them a nice trip: "Have a good time in bars, take a relaxed sauna and say 'Hello' to the mermaid!".
