Mother of Stine Gry giving poweful speech
December 18, 2009 17:40 - the demo has now wrapped up. finsished with some rousing speachs. The speakers restated demands for "climate justice now", and that "reppression will not stop us".
December 18, 2009 17:05 - speaches are now happening at hopenhagen. rousing speachs, including one from Stine Gry's mother (and a song). Stine was one of the spokespeople from CJA grabbed by undercover police on the Reclaim Power demonstration and who is to be held in jail for at least the next four weeks. She said the police actions over the last week is the beggining of facism.
December 18, 2009 16:20 - the speakers have just upped the numbers at the demo to 1500. still lots of chanting and general good vibes.
December 18, 2009 16:10 - more speaches - it is reckoned that there are one thousand people on the demo
December 18, 2009 15:50 - the solidarity demo is now underway. announcements from the stage say that 16 people are still locked up, and that this demo is to demand their release and also to show the people of copenhagen that "we will not tolerate this repression".
A group from the klima forum have also joined up with the main demo.
The atmosphere is chilled and the sound system is playing dub, so it all seems cool.
Hopenhagen is the final destination of the demonstration
December 18, 2009 15:30 - the truck with the sound system is giving out pens and paper to allow people to give notes of solidarity to those still in custody.
