[Belgium] Action in front of the Denmark Consulate

This December 23rd, 05:00 PM about twenty activists gathered in front of the Denmark consulate in Liege (Belgium). They intended to meet the honorary consul to give a letter to him clarifying the deplorable attitude of the Danish police.

They distributed some leaflets and play music. The consul not being there, a letter was deposited. The activists held an assembly to exchange their think about the actions passed to Copenhagen (under the attentive ear of the federal politic police) and drinking hot wine. The meeting was quietly dislocated around 07:00 pm…

Mister the Consul,

The movement for climate justice has been met with massive police repression all along the COP15 process: attacks on legal demonstrations, preventive mass arrests, illegal raids on private homes and accommodation spaces, an extensive use of pepper spray, and imprisonment of political activists. This is not only a criminalisation of Climate Justice Action but also an attempt to criminalise all legitimate and popular movements, not only in Denmark but in the whole world.

While the COP process ignores the global South, movements that make common cause with their fight for climate justice are being criminalised.

Tannie Nyboe, Stine Gry Jonassen (both charged with shouting “PUSH” outside Bella Center December 16th, when thousands of climate activists were about to push for climate justice), and everyone else working to save the climate are not criminals. The real criminals are governments and big corporations who don’t care about climate change – except for how to make profit on false solutions.

Today, December the 23rd, we have come here to claim Justice to be done: we demand the Danish authorities to set free and drop all charges made on climate activists who took part in this COP15's protests.
