Fascister angriber studenterdemonstration i Rom

Onsdag formiddag, d. 29. oktober 2008, blev en stor studenterdemonstration angrebet af væbnede fascistiske bøller i centrum af Rom. Omkring Piazza Navona midt i Roms turistområde kom det til heftige konfrontationer. Da fascisterne kom i defensiven, blandede politistyrker sig og anholdt flere af dem. Angrebet er et forsøg på at skabe opmærksomhed omkring fascisternes krav om særskilte klasser og skoler til udlændinge samt nedlæggelse af de eksisterende selvforvaltningsstrukturer på universiteterne.

I flere uger har Italiens elever og studenter demonstreret mod Berlusconi-regeringens planlagte skolereform, der ligestiller private skoler med det offentlige skolesystem. Samtidig skal der spares omkring 8 milliarder euro (56 milliarder kroner) på budgettet for de offentlige uddannelsessteder. Dette massive angreb på det gratis skolesystem har ført til omfattende ungdomsprotester i de fleste af Italiens større byer i form af demonstrationer, skole - og universitetsbesættelser. Undervisningsminister Stella Gelmini er ifølge nye meningsmålinger landets mest upopulære politiker.

Fascisternes interventionsforsøg

Det er første gang siden 1970'erne, at den militante fascistiske højrefløj forsøger at spille en rolle i en ungdomsprotest. Den prøver at dreje ungdomsprotesterne i en ekstrem højreorienteret, racistisk retning. Det drejer sig først og fremmest om de to fascistiske organisationer Blocco Studentesco og Azione Giovani. Aktivister fra disse to grupper anførte forleden besættelsen af skoler, der ligger i et kvarter i Rom, som traditionelt er stærkt højreorienteret. I det traditionelt venstreorienterede Torino forsøgte medlemmer af disse to organisationer ligeledes at profilere sig overfor protestbevægelsen ved at besætte et par universitetsinstituter. De pejler først og fremmest på den politisk indifferente del af protestbevægelsen.

Fascisternes politiske formål er at fremstille venstrefløjens kræfter i bevægelsen som "fjernstyret af venstrefløjspartierne med en fordækt politisk dagsorden". De reklamerer åbenlyst for adskilte skoler og udannelsessteder for hhv. italienere og udlændinge. Derudover vil de afskaffe samtlige selvstyrede universitetsfrirum - en arv fra Italiens 68-oprør - som de betegner som "kommunist - og anarkistreder".

Ved at kopiere protestbevægelsens aktioner forsøger de at tilkæmpe sig opmærksomhed i medierne. Med en vis succes, da de højreorienterede medier velvilligt indrømmer fascisternes aktioner stor omtale og spalteplads og fremstiller dem som en ligeberettiget part til de ulige større venstrefløjsstrømninger blandt de protesterende studenter og elever.

Konfrontationerne i Rom

Igår kom det i Rom, den miltante højreekstremismes højborg, til den længe ventede konfrontation mellem studenterdemonstrationen og militante fascistiske bøller. Store grupper af elever og studenter har den sidste uge dagligt belejret bygningerne, hvor Italiens senat og parlamentet holder til for at protestere mod den ventede skolereformvedtagelse. Igår formiddags deltog omkring flere tusinde uddannelsessøgende i en demonstration, der tog udgangspunkt i denne belejring.

Ved middagstid forsøgte en højtalervogn fra den fascistiske Blocco Studentesco, ledsaget af snesevis af fascistiske stormtropper, at presse sig ind i de første rækker i demonstrationen. De som ville forhindre det, blev omgående fysisk angrebet af de væbnede fascister. Flere blev slået ned med træknipler, der var malet i de italienske nationalfarver og bælter.

Ved hjælp af militant modværge blev de fascistiske bøller til sidst presset ud af demonstrationen. Først da fascisterne kom i defensiven, greb de talrige tilstedeværende politistyrker ind og anholdt nogle af fascisterne på Piazza Navona.

Direkte konfrontationer mellem fascistiske grupper og venstreorienterede er en tilbagevenden til 60'ernes og 70'ernes tilstande, hvor venstreorienterede demonstrationer regelmæssigt var mål for højreekstremisternes angreb. Ofte ledsaget af målrettede mord på kendte anti-fascister og bombeanslag mod demonstranter. Det vellykkede anti-fascistiske forsvar i går i Roms centrum tyder på, at ungdomsprotesterne ikke lader sig infiltrere og splitte af højrefløjskræfterne.
