Squatting festival on the 16th of May

There is an uprising going on in Europe! The neoliberal order that has swept across the world has struck hard on all those non wealthy. We, the ones with no protection of employment, in precarious living situations, bullied by corporations and capital owners, the homeless, the crowded, the ones with no money.

During the fall of 2008 our resistance has intensified and spontanuity, fury and an uncompromising desire to not take any more crap, have been the distinct features. At the same time it is obvious that our isolation has been broken. Contacts with groups that the organized left once had difficulties communicating with, have suddenly and unceremoniously been renewed through action and street politics.

It's taking place in the streets of Europe and on our streets!

We have seen evidence of this development in Lund and Malmoe as well. During the squatting of Smultronstället on Kävlingevägen 51, new contacts and solutions that earlier were hard to spot, fell on our lap. The Lund scene started talking to each other, helping each other and resisting. The anti-Nazi demonstration on November 30th gathered over a thousand people, militant and with an incredible range. During the riots in Rosengård in Malmoe, the development became even more evident, showing that we were heading somewhere. What we see now is the embryo of a spontaneous proletarian uprising and we are ready. It's taking place in the streets of Europe and on our streets!

On May 16th, Lund squatters will, together with comrades from Malmoe, arrange a squatting festival. We will gather in the centre of the city and have a street party, then form a demonstration and squat several houses. The inspiration for this action comes from G13 and confrontative non violence will be used during the entire action. If, however, the organizers then make the assessment that the action cannot be carried through, the action will be called off and it is then up to the participants to express their opinions about the situation. Our unity is the threat and there are only two possible scenarios: the greatest party ever or a city in flames.

This is not just an action. It will echo through the corridors of power, sweeping past every local politician and official all over Sweden, every greedy bastard living over his assets. Our message is that we are in charge and that our situation lies in our own hands. We who take an active part in the planning of the festival, approximately thirty people, are divided into six different groups, meeting regularly in general meetings to make decisions in joint matters.

Now we are asking for your help. We, the squatters of Lund, ask you to carry out actions highlighting May 16th, write articles to our paper Squatter News http://ockupantscenen.se/ockupantnytt/, put pressure on your politicians, throw parties in support of May 16th, organize trips to Lund on May 16th, host lectures and film screenings.

Take an initiative on yuor own and make it a part of the May 16th preparations. We have posters, stickers and a website http://ockupantscenen.se/.
