A 17 strong delegation of dalit and indigenous commmunity members from India protested outisde the UN talks this morning culminating in a ceremnoial burning of their conference badges.
They were protesting at the clear lack of community participation in the UN climate talks process. The India Community Charter on Climate Change is a people's coalition of hundreds of 'Climate Communities' from across India. Their aim is to bring communities together to confidently engage with climate challenges at all levels and to pave a path of sustainability for the future.
The protest this morning was filmed by dalit women filmmakers Narsamma and Manjulai from Christian Aid partner the DDS Media Trust based in Andhra Pradesh. The women have come to document the climate talks and campaigning in Copenhagen to show to their communities back in India.
